SAVAIAH: My first choice would definitely be SZA. YMX: If you had the opportunity to pick any artists in the world for a collaboration, who would be your first choice? (and second choice, perhaps?) If you would have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up the answer would always be the same, " A famous Singer/actress/performer." A triple threat! Especially when I got the first solo in my kindergarten class, it started the whole confidence I carry with me today. You may think this is such a simple activity but for me, it sparked my passion. I remember when I was little I participated in my school choir. SAVAIAH: My love for music started when I was very small and looking up to my young idols, including Mariah Carey, and Katy Perry. YMX: Your current work is the result of a long journey What first drew you to making music? I am a big dreamer but an extreme go-getter, with big hair and personality. I have done 10 + musicals, been a singer in a jazz band and a mariachi band, and not to mention the 4 plus instruments I play, alto sax/clarinet, ukulele, piano, and guitar. The instrumental falls a bit outside of the traditionally gritty and nostalgic Griselda aesthetic, but still sets the tone for Benny’s reflective and aspirational bars. The track is layered with a moving piano ballad contrasted by hard-hitting 808s and bass. ![]()
